Seven questions for a refugee at our school?

1. What is the difference between refugees and migrants?
Refugees flee somewhere, for example for war or for other hazard. Migrants flee from a bad economy or for (much) poverty.

2. Why do the refugees actually come to Europe?
There may be all kinds of reasons for this. Possible reasons are: deception by traffickers, war in the own country and/or a lack of confidence in the driver (s).

3. How the refugees travel to Europe?
They travel with dozens of people to Europe, usually on small boats. The refugees are with twenty to fifty man on such boats, perhaps with even more. That is far beyond the capacity of the boats, which often rickety and poorly maintained.

4. why the refugees travel in this way?
Travel by plane is safer and often cheaper but then there must be a visa are available on request. With this visa, they can stay up to six months. With these boats to travel, they come as "refugee" in Europe. That has the advantage that they be allowed to stay longer (two years) and even a chance to win a residence permit.

5. Why is the journey of the refugees so dangerous?
Refugees from Africa must first by the Sahara, the largest desert on Earth. During this stretch of the journey there is a big chance of dehydration. Then they need by Libya. This is a very dangerous country because there is a civil war and chances are that they be shot down. Then enter them with small boats on the sea, to Italy. These boats are very gammel and much too small for the large group of people who is done. As a result, the chances are that such a boat sinks or engine trouble. Most refugees can not swim will drown.

6. If the refugees arrive in Italy it falls they often anyway, why is this?
It is often because the language and culture in Europe and in Italy is different than in the home country of the refugees. Italians often speak not good English, so can the refugees and the Italians not communicate well. Also feel the refugees are not welcome and it is uncertain whether they be allowed to stay. If they miss the refugees who have left behind family home, too.

7. Why do the refugees do not return, if they be rejected?
If they are not allowed to stay, most secretly anyway. They make pictures of themselves for chic cars and houses to show that they get it right, although that is not the case. The rejected refugees are ashamed; they are seen as failures.
